LG OLED TVs highlight the perfect black in new video

LG has released a video to showcase their brand new LG OLED TV.

In the video a group of people dressed all in black run around a city and create perfect black shapes using only themselves. As people watch on wondering what they’re doing, the group gets larger and larger until the cover the entire floor by lying down. Once they have everyone’s attention they let off a variety of colourful balloons into the sky.

The new video is designed to showcase the perfect black, and perfect colour, of LG’s new range of OLED TVs. The TVs offer better quality than LCD TVs as there is no need for backlight. Each individual pixel can emit light on its own. This enables OLED to create the perfect shades of black, and an infinite contrast ratio, both of which would be impossible with a backlight. For these reasons, the shift to OLED TV will be just as revolutionary for display technology as the advent of the smartphone was for the mobile phone industry.

The OLED TV renders renders each pixel as bright or as dark as it should be, creating a strikingly crisp, smooth and clean picture that is both pleasantly rich, yet achieves a convincing realism with subtlety.
