Louise Redknapp rose to fame as part of girl group Eternal in the 90s before embarking on a very successful solo career.
For her latest challenge, Louise is hitting the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom with her professional partner Kevin Clifton. Talking about her ideal dance partner she revealed:
“Iād love somebody who I can feel really comfortable with, somebody that can support me and wonāt be really angry if I go wrong. Iām really hard working and Iām not a āletās all mess aroundā type person. Iām a mum, Iāve got my husband at home, Iāll want to go and get on with the job in hand and Iāll want to learn want I need to do and Iāll do it to the best of my ability. I also know nerves can really get the better of me and Iāll think it will be my biggest downfall. On performance night I just know my poor dancer will just have to stop me from shaking the whole way through!”
What is Louise looking forward to most about the Strictly experience?
“I think just having the opportunity to perform again. When youāve grown up as a performer and youāve been in the music industry and youāve played at Wembley and youāve done concerts everywhere, itās all about performing. When all of the sudden thatās taken away from you thereās quite a big void of something you love to do and you donāt quite get the same buzz of performing in the lounge in front of your kids! I think just getting back out there and having the opportunity to perform to music is what Iām most looking forward to. I think a lot of people go into Strictly wanting something out of it at the end. Iām not doing it for that. Iām quite happy with my life and I donāt want to do loads more, Iām happy with my business, my kids, my everything else, so I think itās just about having one last shot at putting on the dance shoes and a few jazz hands!”
When it comes to impressing with her dance moves, is there one judge Louise wants to get on side? “I think to impress them all is clearly the aim of the game. I really respect Darcey as a dancer. When I was younger I really loved watching her, Iāve seen her in shows and I think sheās incredible. I think to impress her on the dance front as a woman would be amazing but to impress them all would obviously be ideal!”
