Scandal picked up its final season 100 days into Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) presidency.
With Cyrus (Jeff Perry) as her Vice President, Mellie tried to get a bill passed that offered free college education to American citizens. At the same time Mellie had to deal with a US CIA agent who was being held by terrorists.
Olivia (Kerry Washington) tried to convince Mellie to extract the agent but Jake (Scott Foley) swayed her to kill him. Not taking Mellie’s decision, Olivia went behind her back to free the agent and reunite him with his family. When Mellie found out the two women engaged in a heated argument, with Olivia telling Mellie she has to listen to her if she wants to go down in history.
Elsewhere TV host Curtis Pryce (Jay Hernandez) interviewed Olivia and the two embarked on an affair, even though Olivia was still sleeping with Jake who is married. Quinn (Katie Lowes) struggled to find her first client since taking over OPA, now known as QPA.
The next episode of the season is Pressing the Flesh. President Mellie hosts her first state dinner in the hope of securing peace in the Middle East, while Olivia puts a backup plan in place.
