Comic book clues

With the news that Lucas (Brendan Robinson) was friends with Charles when they were kids, Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) searched his apartment for clues. While rifling through a collection of comic books, they stumbled upon one that was created by Lucas and Charles and the story it told was one that felt very familiar to the liars.

Also as a side note, Mona (Janel Parrish) found out that Lucas was selling Hannaā€™s warehouse and basically her business without having informed her about it.

Pretty Little Traitor

Aria decided to join the A team in a bid to get out from under A.D. this week and found herself lying to her friends. Communicating with A.D. via video calls, Aria was faced with a version of herself who gave her instructions about what she needed to do next.

As well as being asked to reveal all about the other Liars and what theyā€™d been up to, Aria was tasked with stealing Lucasā€™ comic book and placing it in a locker at Rosewood High. After depositing the comic, Aria returned to the locker where she found a hoody, which she took.

She kept her dealings quiet from her friends but encountered the wrath of A.D. who had warned her not to ignore her phone when it rang. Earlier in the episode A.D. had threatened to release Ariaā€™s file and told her that the information in it could send Ezra (Ian Harding) to jail.

Speaking of Ezra, Aria continued to get the cold shoulder from him as he rushed off to be at Nicoleā€™s (Rebecca Breeds) side once again. He changed his mind at the airport and returned home.

Whoā€™s the daddy?

Alison (Sasha Pieterse) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) had it confirmed that Ali was carrying Emilyā€™s baby and that Archer (Huw Collins) wasnā€™t the father. Who is the father? Thatā€™s something that wasnā€™t revealed but Emily made a surprising plea to Ali to keep the baby so they could raise it together. That of course caused problems with Paige (Lindsey) who realised that there was no room for her in Emilyā€™s life. After breaking up with Emily and saying goodbye, Paige had a chat with Ali and asked her to be honest about her feelings for Emily. Ali then told Emily she would keep the baby and agreed to raise it with her.

True detective

Spencer (Troian Bellisario) tied herself up in all kinds of knots this week as she began to dig her own grave with Detective Furey (Nicholas Gonzalez). She visited him at work to take cupcakes and found herself being questioned about the night they first met. Upon returning to the barn, Spencer found a note from Mary (Andrea Parker) in a bottle of wine asking to meet with her. After exchanging a few notes, Spencer headed to the Lost Woods Resort but Mary didnā€™t show ā€“ Detective Furey did!

Spencer tried her best to leave but Furey started to pick holes in the stories she had told him and let her know that he knew sheā€™d used Archerā€™s credit card at The Radley the night they met. He informed her that he was waiting for the receipts to be sent to the precinct, which would allow him to confirm his theory.

Turns out Mary was at the resort but when she spotted Furey, she assumed Spencer had tipped him off. Spencer returned home to a goodbye note from Mary.

Following that encounter Spencer went to meet Wren (Julian Morris) who was at the airport waiting for a connection. She was trying to get information out of him about Charlotte (Vanessa Ray) but got nowhere and was worried when they were spotted by Ezra. She pleases for Ezra not to tell anyone that heā€™d seen them.

Keeping secrets

Hanna brought Mona into the loop about the game and let her spend some time seeing if she could work out how it was operating. After admiring its craftsmanship, Mona pulled together a diagram showing the gameā€™s workings. Hanna asked Mona to help her beat the game, which she initially refused using the excuse that she was an addict, but when Hanna challenged her to win it looked like Mona was ready to play ball.
