Woman on a mission
Hanna (Ashley Benson) left town to embark on a top secret mission to prove that Noel Kahn (Brant Daugherty) was A.D. and she left a note for her friends telling them she’d gone to New York to talk about her business with Lucas (Brendan Robinson). They soon saw through that lie but that didn’t stop Hanna from operating under the radar.
After tailing Noel she searched through a bin bag he disposed of in a dumpster and found Sara’s (Dre Davis) phone. Returning to her (presumably rented) accommodation, Hanna set about arranging a meeting with Noel and wisely she’d already recorded a video explaining what she was doing should anything go wrong.
Arriving at a bar, Hanna bought two pints and laced one with some pills she bought from a drug dealer that would render Noel unconscious. Sure enough Noel turned up and Hanna confronted him about Sara’s phone. He asked to see it and she offered to help him avoid the police by providing an alibi. As she raised her glass to faux cheer their new partnership, Noel realised his drink was spiked and asked Hanna to drink from it first. When she refused he grabbed Sara’s phone from her, warned her to be careful and left.
Still determined to prove that Noel was A.D. Hanna found out from various voicemails that her friends left that he’d been living in his parents’ cabin. When Noel returned to the cabin, Hanna left her cap on the floor for him to find. As he bent to pick it up, Hanna hit him across the head, knocking him out.
Spencer (Troian Bellisario) used her position on her mother’s campaign team to find out the details of Noel is living now he’s back in Rosewood. Her search led her to the Kahn’s cabin so she went to check it out with Emily (Shay Mitchell). After searching through the cabin, Spencer found a flashdrive that contained videos of the Liars in the dollhouse. They watched one and it featured Noel pouring blood all over the room Spencer was in to make her think she’d harmed someone. The girls got interrupted and fled with the flashdrive.
Talking to Aria and Emily, Spencer wanted to go to the police but the other girls refused until Hanna was with them. Spencer returned to the Hastings house where she looked at the footage on the flashdrive again but was interrupted when a storm caused the power to go out and a tree smashed through the kitchen window. As she went to investigate, Spencer saw a shadow in the house and Detective Fury (Nicholas Gonzalez) arrived to assist her. The flashdrive had been taken and Spencer asked Fury to stay with her until the storm blew over.
Looking for baby
Aria turned to Jason for help this week as she tried to find out who Mary’s other baby was. It was revealed that Jason and Aria had rekindled their short relationship prior to her taking her publishing job. Jason had asked Aria to go to Ethiopia with him to do relief work but she refused, deciding to take the publishing job instead. Jason believed she took that to get closer to Ezra (Ian Harding) again.
With Jason by her side, Aria went to the courthouse to try and get access to the records of Mary’s second child’s adoption. At first they hit a brick wall but Aria sweet-talked the clerk by pretending she was engaged to Jason. She explained all the tragedy he’d been through and the clerk promised to contact them if she found anything.
As the storm raged on, Aria shared her concerns with Jason about the possibility of Nicole (Rebecca Breeds) being alive and he took the opportunity to make his feelings for her known. Aria tried to leave but Jason apologised for making her feel uncomfortable and asked her to stay. Ezra sent her a text message informing her that Nicole wasn’t one of the hostages that had been found in Colombia and told her he was heading home.
Once the power came back on, Jason received a fax from the courthouse clerk with the adoption records. The only problem was that the whole file was redacted apart from a signature, which belonged to Noel’s father. Is Noel Mary’s other child? It’s sure looking like it.
On the outside looking in
Sabrina (Lulu Brud) was less than impressed this week when Emily had no time for her. First Emily told her not to make a cake Noel had ordered then she turned her away when Sabrina asked her to grab a quick bite. Emily explained that she couldn’t tell Sabrina what was going on, leaving her new girlfriend upset. Unexpectedly Emily turned to Paige (Lindsey Shaw) who she saw again during their interviews for the swim coach job. By the episode’s end, Emily was calling Paige and asking her to come over so she could talk about what was going on, after earlier revealing that A was after her and the Liars once again.
