Nashville 5×08 Stand Beside Me preview

Rayna (Connie Britton) and Deacon (Charles Esten) found that writing their duets album together was going to be harder than they expected on the latest episode of Nashville.

The two reluctantly agreed to let a cameraman follow them to document the making of the record but tensions soon got the better of them. Rayna and Deacon were pushed apart by their differing recollections of their past and they tried to reconnect by going on an impromptu bowling date night.

Just as they were patching things up, they were called back to the house when a fire alarm went off. They arrived to find Maddie (Lennon Stella) and Daphne (Maisy Stella) safe after burning a cake but weren’t happy to find Clay (Joseph David-Jones) in the house.

Eventually Rayna and Deacon aligned their thoughts and recorded the first song for their album.

Elsewhere in the episode Scarlett (Clare Bowen) began to question her relationship with Gunnar (Sam Palladio) when she became attracted to Damien (Christian Coulson). The two went out for dinner and shortly before Damien left town, he kissed Scarlett.

Feeling guilty, Scarlett came clean to Gunnar but the two patched things up. After having sex, Scarlett still seemed unsure and Damien was texting her to let her know he didn’t leave town after all.

The next episode of the season is Stand Beside Me. Rayna and Deacon take precautions as Hockney tests the limits of the restraining order. Juliette asks the church choir to work with her on an album. Scarlett finds herself drawn to Damien.
