Mykel – Sweet Valentine single review

Irish singer, songwriter, Mykel made his live TV debut on RTE/Warner Brothers TV show The Hit and was one of 8 finalists. Hailing from Dublin the artist counts Ed Sheeran, Knife Party and Labrinth amongst his main influences but doesn’t like to categorise himself. His new single Sweet Valentine is about love and lust.

Sweet Valentine kicks off and we are surprised to discover that the track is rather dark. Before too long Mykel’s sultry vocals serenade you and you are captivated. The single is part pop part dub step and stays mellow throughout. Adding Ati Fisher’s female vocals gives Sweet Valentine a nice lift but without changing the mood of the song. During the bridge is where you’ll appreciate the vocals, which are stunning.

Sweet Valentine is not the single we were expecting, its soft and seductive with a hit of danger. Mykel has done a good job and stayed on the safe side with this sexy track.
