C2C: Country to Country 2019 – Dustin Lynch live review

Dustin Lynch is one of the biggest stars in Country music right now. With six number ones under his belt and three Top 2 albums, he seems to be on an unstoppable winning streak. Lynch has been high on a lot of Country fans’ lists when it comes to people they want to see performing at C2C: Country to Country. That wish finally came true last night when he was the second act on the Main Stage inside The O2 Arena in London.

I spoke with Lynch earlier in the day and he promised he was going to bring the party. Turns out he wasn’t kidding. Carly Pearce had warmed the crowd up nicely with her Main Stage set, which opened the day, and Lynch took the energy to the next level. Arriving on stage with his trademark cowboy hat and huge smile, Lynch opened with Hell of a Night. The crowd went wild and over the course of his set he delivered all the hits and then some.

The first standout moment for me was I’d Be Jealous Too, the third single from his latest album Current Mood. The catchy track worked well in the arena and it got the audience singing along. Lynch followed that with heavy-hitters Mind Reader and Good Girl, two of his number ones, and he worked the stage like a superstar. It was impressive to watch just how much energy he had as he whirled around the stage, danced a little and put his all into every single song.

The highlight for me was an acoustic medley of Adele’s Someone Like You and Lynch’s debut single Cowboys & Angels. Firstly I’ve never heard a male version of an Adele song that works but Lynch knocked it out of the park. Secondly the vocals and emotion during Cowboys & Angels were something else. It made me truly appreciate the talent Lynch possesses and I’ve got to admit I’m yearning for a full acoustic show or record at some point down the line.

A crowd-pleasing cover of Garth Brooks’ iconic hit Friends in Low Places came next, which served to continue whipping the crowd up into a frenzy. You could feel the flow of beer and good-time vibes in the arena, and as much as that song is a little done to death, it went down a storm.

For his final two songs, Lynch wheeled out his more recent number one smashes Seein’ Red and Small Town Boy. It’s no surprise he’s had the success he’s had as Lynch has a real knack for a catchy melody. Both songs are made for radio and with Lynch’s distinctive vocals on them, it’s a no brainer that he’s killing it across streaming platforms.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect from Lynch during his set but I was very impressed. It was loud, it was (for the most part) uptempo, and he served seriously killer vocals. Lynch has a presence that captures your attention and you can’t take your eyes off him. His energy is infectious, but his tunes are absolute ear-worms. He promised to come back soon and when he does, I’ll be there in the audience ready to get my party on.
