Triggerfinger – All This Dancin’ Around album review

Triggerfinger are a three piece rock band from Belgium. They’ve recently enjoyed success by being named the headline act for the second stage for The Rolling Stones at their Hyde Park gig this summer. What an accolade is that!

The band originally released their third studio album, All This Dancin’ Around, back in November 2010, and the album was certified gold on the Flemish Ultratop 50. Now releasing it in the UK, Triggerfinger are hoping for the same success the second time round.

All This Dancin’ Around has twelve tracks, plus three bonus tracks. The title track has a catchy chorus which will have you singing along to it in no time. The guitar riffs and vocalist Ruben Block’s gorgeous voice blend well together. Love Lost in Love’s chorus reminds us of a rockier version of Fred Astaire’s Let’s Face The Music and Dance. Whether this is intentionally or not, it works!

There’s a bit of a grungy feel to this album, and this is evidently so in Feed Me. Tuxedo sees Triggerfinger go a bit up tempo, whilst I’m Coming For You has very heavy bass guitar and will have you bopping your head along to it. Its very old school grunge, and Ruben’s falsetto vocal is great! With their Rolling Stones gig coming up soon, we can imagine the crowd in London’s Hyde Park loving this one!

I Follow Rivers is a cover of Lukke Li, and they originally performed an acoustic version of this track in a live radio station. It became an instant hit, and so, they included it in this album!

This album reminds us of Muse and Queen of The Stone Age, but Triggerfinger also have their own unique sound. Their power can not go unnoticed, and it won’t be long, we’re sure, until they’ll be headlining their own stadium shows. We can not wait to see what the rest of 2013 will bring this Belgian trio.
