Hadouken! are set to release their brand new album Every Weekend. Following the success of Levitate who became a viral video on the net it seems like Hadouken! are now ready to conquer the US. With a few gigs scheduled this year and their most accomplished album yet it looks like 2013 is the band’s year!
The Vortex kick-starts the album with its taunting intro and then a slick drop, which is sure to make you want to dance. Once the vocals kick in you know this is Hadouken! its good and edgy just the way we like it. Levitate picks up where we left off and we are quite pleased with Hadouken!’s massive hit. It’s easy to see why this picked up so well.
Bliss Out is quite mellow as it starts and chills out the mood of the album. This is still a powerful track and has a good hook to it. The track sounds more mainstream than the band’s former songs but it works.
Next up is As One another big track on this album with its anthem-like vocals and another stinking drop. There are a lot of slick little tweaks on this album and you can hear that the band’s been hard at work. Parasite is also quite dirty however this track is more what we expect from Hadouken!, fierce and a bit underground.
Bad Signal and Stop Time are both pretty basic. Both tracks are good and definitely big contenders as singles. Stop Time especially sounds rather fresh and a drop that’s really in fashion right now.
We turn our attention to Spill Your Guts as it blasts into our ears and even though it is quite mellow the edgy vocals give the track character. It hits you with its power and as that ends in comes The Comedown, which is just brilliant and works perfectly as the end track.
Every Weekend is probably the most accomplished album that we’ve heard from Hadouken! yet! This album is filled with hits and really shows how the band has progressed and their sound matured to something more accessible to all. The only downside would be that hardcore fans might find this a little to mainstream.
