Country duo Dan + Shay have released the music video for their new single From the Ground Up.
The track is the first to be taken from their new album, the follow-up to 2014 debut Where It All Began. From the Ground Up’s video was directed by Shaun Silva and the song was inspired by the duo’s grandparents.
“From the Ground Up is a song that started with a conversation about our grandparents and the love that they shared for the 65-plus years that they were married,” Dan says “It tells the story of the life that they built through their power and dedication to each other, and the perseverance to endure whatever would come their way.”
From the Ground Up was produced by Scott Hendricks and Dan Smyers, and it marks a departure from the sound the duo had on their debut album. The song is more traditionally country with sweeping strings and it doesn’t feature the R&B style delivery that their previous singles did.
Later this year Dan + Shay will embark on a tour with Darius Rucker and they’ll be hoping to pick up an award at the 2016 ACM Awards after being nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year.
