Vanessa Carlton returns with new album Liberman

Vanessa Carlton will release her new album Liberman on 23rd October 2015 it has been announced.

The singer/songwriter, best-known in the UK for her smash-hit A Thousand Miles, has recorded 10 new songs for the set. Liberman reflects Vanessa’s current state of mind since moving from NYC to Nashville, marrying her husband John McCauley of Deer Tick and having a baby girl.

Liberman showcases a new side to Vanessa mixing simple instrumentation with her wistful vocals and poignant lyrics. Vanessa recently premiered the official music video for single Operator on Billboard, which was directed by Daniel Henry and shot in her hometown of Nashville.

“With this video, Daniel basically reversed the age old story of kids running away and instead had the parents run away,” says Carlton. “The kids are left to do what they want in this big house. The older sister takes charge the best she can. It’s done in a cinematic and slightly abstract way.”

Liberman will be released through Dine Alone Records on 23rd October as a standard and deluxe edition. A vinyl edition of the album will be available end of November.

At the end of this month Vanessa will embark on a tour of the US that will see her playing shows until just before Christmas.
