2013 X Factor winner Sam Bailey has topped the charts and clinched the Christmas number one with her debut single Skyscraper.
The 36-year-old former prison officer released the cover of Demi Lovato’s hit as her winner’s single following her victory on The X Factor two weekends ago. The proceeds from the single will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Together for Short Lives.
“Being number one is absolutely amazing!ā Bailey told the Official Charts Company. āIt really is the icing on the cake and it means Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity and Together For Short Lives will benefit from the single which makes it extra special.”
Bailey sold 149,000 copies of Skyscraper to hit the top spot. She beat Pharrell Williams’ Happy and Leona Lewis’ One More Sleep to the number one spot.
