Pharrell Williams turning Happy into children’s book

Pharrell Williams is turning his hit song Happy into a new picture book aimed at young readers.

The book will feature photographs of children across cultures celebrating what it means to be happy. It will be published through Putnam Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers, on 22nd September 2015.

The deal for Happy and three additional picture books was negotiated by Stacey Barney, Senior Editor, Putnam Books for Young Readers and Mel Berger at William Morris Endeavor. Penguin has North American rights.

ā€œThis is the beginning of an incredible partnership with one of America’s most talented and beloved stars,ā€ said Don Weisberg, President, Penguin Young Readers. ā€œPharrell has an important and inspiring message about individuality and being your best self and we’re proud to help him share that with young children.ā€

Happy adds another string to Pharrell’s bow that he can list alongside singer, songwriter, producer, philanthropist, fashion designer and a coach on NBCā€™s The Voice.
