Paul Young to release first album in 20 years

Paul Young will release his first solo album in over 20 years on Friday it has been announced.

The star will release Good Thing, and new single L-O-V-E, on Friday 15th April 2016. Good Thing is a collaboration with producer Arthur Baker, who is best known for his work with hip hop artists like Afrika Bambaataa & Planet Patrol and cross-over pop acts New Order and the Pet Shop Boys.

Good Thing is a collection of soul covers and sees Paul return to his soulful roots. Paul has hand selected each track on the record, which includes Al Greenā€™s L-O-V-E, The Staple Singerā€™s Touch A Hand, Make A Friend, Syl Johnsonā€™s Back For A Taste Of Your Love, the Bee Geeā€™s Words and Jonnie Taylorā€™s I Believe In You.

ā€œThis album is a labour of love, my soulful dream realised for everyone to now share,ā€ states Paul Young. ā€œIā€™ve carefully selected and re-recorded some of the most beautiful, iconic and rare soul tracks of all time and I hope people enjoy this album as much as Iā€™ve loved creating it.ā€

Arthur Baker produced the album with past collaborator James Hallawell who also arranged, engineered, mixed and played on the record. The album will be distributed by ADA / New State Digital.
