Her Madgesty is celebrating her 60th birthday this month so we’re dedicating August to the Queen of Pop. We will be picking our A to Z of Madonna singles each day this month as well as asking you to vote for your favourite Madonna album.
Today is brought to you by the letter Y.
Y is for You Must Love Me. We would’ve opted for You’ll See, but as you will indeed have seen we had to bend the rules slighty and choose that earlier in our countdown. You Must Love Me is taken from the hugely successful Evita soundtrack for the film in which Madonna won accolades for her starring role as Eva Perón.
- The track was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice as a new edition to the musical score especially for the 1996 film adaptation
- Madonna took vocal training to be able to deliver this track and others in the musical
- It won an Oscar and Golden Globe in 1996 for Best Original Song
- You Must Love Me reached no.10 in the UK singles chart
