Following on from the news that actor Luke Evans will release his debut album At Last next month, the star has released the first track from the record – a cover of Pat Benatar’s Love is a Battlefield.
Luke’s take on the track is different to the original with him putting an otherworldly twist on it. Watch the video below:
On choosing āLove Is A Battlefieldā for the album, Luke commented, āThe song sums up a lot of emotions inside me.ā āLove itself is a minefield of emotions. Itās incredibly hard to find it, and once you have it, itās incredibly hard to keep hold of, and when you lose it, you feel like the world is breaking apart in front of you.ā āWeāve stripped the song right back to basics, so you can really hear the lyrics ā and I tried to put as much feeling, emotion and empathy into the song as I could.ā āThe lyrics to the songs mean something different to everyone, especially in this day and age, when some people are not allowed to love each other. For me, itās about fighting through the pressures of love and coming out of the other end with it intact. Itās an anthem for what love is aboutā.
If you pre-order At Last at Luke’s official store, you’ll get a signed photograph with the album.
At Last will be released on 22nd November 2019 via BMG. The album features covers of classic songs such as U2’s With Or Without You, Maria McKee’s Show Me Heaven and Cher’s If I Could Turn Back Time.
On the big screen Luke will next be seen in Roland Emmerichās historical drama, Midway, alongside Woody Harrelson and Patrick Wilson ā due for its theatrical release in November ahead of the album release.
Heās also filmed Dreamland, co-starring alongside Gary Oldman, Evangeline Lilly and Armie Hammer ā due for release in early 2020.
