Kylie Minogue: Singles A to Z – P

This month sees Kylie Minogue take to the stage in the Glastonbury Legends slot and also the release of her latest hits package Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection. To celebrate we will be picking our A to Z of Kylie singles each day this month as well as asking you to vote for your favourite Kylie album – here.

Today’s post is brought to you by the letter P.

P is for Put Yourself In My Place. Released in 1994 as the second single from her eponymous album, Put Yourself In My Place is one of Kylie’s finest ballads and showcases her vocal power. P could also be for pink spacesuits from the iconic video!

Single facts

    • The video pays homage to cult movie Barbarella starring Jane Fonda and sees Kylie derobing from a bright pink spacesuit whilst in zero gravity
    • The single’s sleeve artwork was shot by famous British photographer Rankin
    • Put Yourself In My Place was written and produced by Jimmy Harry who has gone on to work with Madonna (Masterpiece), P!nk (Funhouse), Britney (Touch Of My Hand) and Kelly Clarkson (Low) to name just a few
    • It peaked at Number 11 on both the UK and Australian charts

Other choices for the letter P include 2000’s latino-lite Please Stay 2010’s and the eurphoric Put Your Hands Up! (If You Feel Love) which had a PWL throwback mix courtesy of Pete Hammond.
