This month sees Kylie Minogue take to the stage in the Glastonbury Legends slot and also the release of her latest hits package Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection. To celebrate we will be picking our A to Z of Kylie singles each day this month as well as asking you to vote for your favourite Kylie album – here.
And so we reach I.
I is for In My Arms. This electropop track was one of three that leaked ahead of the release of Kylie’s X album, with a slightly amended version making the final cut and being released in the UK as the third single from the album.
- In My Arms was co-written by Kylie and an up-n-coming producer at the time called Calvin Harris, alongside Biff, Paul Harris and Julian Peake
- The single was released on limited edition powder pink 7″ vinyl; her first single since 1997’s Some Kind of Bliss to be released on 7″
- The video was recorded in the same session as Wow with both directed by Melina Matsoukas who has also worked with Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and many more
- The track was issued as the second single from the album across much of Europe but third in the UK where Wow was released ahead of it. The cover image for the European release of In My Arms is the same as the UK’s sleeve for Wow.
I is one of the most popular letters for a Kylie single to start with so it was no easy choice. The obvious one might have been her debut UK single I Should Be So Lucky or perhaps 2004’s magical I Believe In You. There’s also her oft overlooked duet with Keith Washington, If You Were With Me Now; Kiss Me Once singles Into The Blue and I Was Gonna Cancel; Fever banger In Your Eyes and 1988’s It’s No Secret which was released in selected countries only. (Note we’re not counting I Still Love You – we prefer to go by it’s french title!)
With so many huge singles beginning with I, we’re sure many of you will have a different favourite so tell us @entfocusmusic
