Jess Glynne has been forced to cancel a number of forthcoming festival appearances to undergo vocal surgery it has been announced.
The singer had to pull out of last weekend’s Isle of Wight festival along with arena shows with John Legend.
In a statement Jess said, “Iām heartbroken. I’m so sad to miss these shows and festivals with and for people I love but the doctors have told me I need the operation or I risk damaging my vocal cords. I’m scared but I’m in with the best specialist who tells me I’ll be back singing better than before.”
The surgery is to be carried out next week by Dr Steven Zeitels of Bostonās Massachusetts General Hospital, the same doctor who recently performed surgery on fellow Brits Adele and Sam Smith.
“I realised I had a problem with my voice and asked Sam for advice” she continues. “He put me in touch with Dr Zeitels who I met with last week. I wonāt be able to talk for three weeks but I will be back singing in August and in plenty of time for both my big UK tour and my first ever American tour, both of which Iām massively excited about. Iād like to take this opportunity to say thanks to my fans who’ve been very supportive and gave me my first solo number 1 with Hold My Hand.ā
Jess first US tour will be announced shortly and her UK tour opens on 31 October in Cardiff. She is set to release her debut album I Cry When I Laugh on 14th August 2015.
