Femi Kuti is to release new album No Place For My Dream on 6th May.
The Grammy-nominated musician continues to carry forward Afrobeat on his new album blending funk, jazz and African folk. The song of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela, Femi is determined to put his own stamp on the genre saying, “I think it’s very important for me to respect my father’s creation all the time. But I don’t want to be my father’s replica. I want to find my own spirit, my own soul and my own voice.”
No Place For My Dream sees Femi showing his desire to be heard and be the voice of a deprived population.
Femi will be performing for one night only at KOKO in Camden on 9th May in support of the record. His band, Positive Force, will be with him for the occasion.
