EF’s Underdogs George Ezra, Rocheii, Sheppard & more

A few months have passed and new music has surfaced to brighten our days. With summer starting and festival season in full swing, this is the time when new artists come to the spotlight and here is a taster of what we’ve been listening to lately.

George Ezra

George Ezra is only 21 but this British singer songwriter from Hertford is showing great promise. His voice feels like velvet in your ears and his music feels light as a feather. It was at Glastonbury festival that the young man shot to fame during the summer of 2013 on the BBC Introducing Stage. His debut solo album, Wanted was released on the 30th June 2014. What we like about the music is how beautiful it is in its simplicity.

Rocheii

Rocheii is a very up and coming band, so up and coming in fact that there is not much about them online yet. The band’s bio only reveals limited information of Rocheii but we know a few things, like that it’s a four piece and that it’s based in London. The band likes to mix blues with pop and even a little bit of alternative. What we like about the band is that it makes happy music.

Zella Day

Zella Day is from a small town in Arizona where the young artist found inspiration and her creativity bloomed. She quickly surrounded herself with other musicians and her family coffee house became a sanctuary for musicians. Zella Day first caught people’s attention with her cover of The White Stripe’s, Seven Nation Army, which went on to top the Hype Machine. Her new song is East of Eden and it’s a fun pop song. What we like about Zella Day’s music is how light and cheerful it is.

Sheppard

Sheppard is an exciting new band from Australia that has already landed its first platinum single back home. The band is formed of siblings George, Amy and Emma plus Jay Boviono, Michael Butler and Dean Gorden and is singed to Decca Records. Geronimo is their new single and is already all over spotify and catching people’s interest. What we like about the music is how happy it sounds.

Twin Forks

Twin Forks is a band comprised of members of bands Dashboard Confessional, The Narrative and Bad Books but its front man Chris Carrabba that leads Twin Forks and for him the band is all about its music. The bands self-entitled debut is filled with anthems and mellow songs, which the band are proud of and understandably so. Twin Forks’ music is a blend of folk and shanties, which puts a smile on our faces every time. What we like about the music is its feel good effect.
