Ed Sheeran will release his new album Ć· (Divide) on 3rd March 2017 it has been announced.
The singer-songwriter has revealed the details of Ć· as the album’s first two singles dominate the charts. Shape of You and Castle on the Hill were both released last week and they have amassed millions of streams, with Shape of You notching up 7,940,950 streams in one day beating Adele’s Hello.
Speaking about the singles’ success Ed commented, āFirst off, what a week! The reaction to my new singles has been absolutely mind-blowing and I canāt thank you enough. My new album Ć· holds a very special place in my heart and I really believe this is my best work to date. Iāve been eager to get back and I couldnāt be more excited for March 3rd.ā
Ć· will see Ed pushing his music in new directions and of course the lyrics will be deeply personal. The album is described as ‘an array of beautifully orchestrated and emotive ballads, impassioned raps laid over hip hop beats, timeless acoustic guitar masterpieces and innovative, idiosyncratic pop music.’
The album is executively produced by Benny Blanco (Rihanna, The Weeknd) and Ed, with further production coming from Johnny McDaid, Mike Elizondo and Steve Mac. Ć· was recorded between LA, London, Suffolk and RMS Queen Mary 2.
