Dolly Parton was awarded an accolade from RIAA yesterday celebrating sales of more than 100 million albums worldwide.
The country icon performed at Glastonbury yesterday and it was during the press event prior to her performance that she was given the accolade. The presentation was made by CTK Management CEO and Dolly Records President Danny Nozell and Glastonbury owner Michael Eavis.
Commenting on the accolade, Dolly said, āIāve been so busy making records for the past several decades, I didnāt realize I had racked up so many sales. What a great honor to know that I have so many fans that have supported me through the years.Ā Thanks to the RIAA for the acknowledgment and the plaque I feel very honored and proud.ā
This past few weeks Dolly has been performing UK dates on her Blue Smoke world tour with two dates at Londonās The O2 Arena. Blue Smoke has given Dolly her highest ever charting solo album in the US and the UK.
