Chris Young releases new single Raised on Country – take a listen

Chris Young is kicking off 2019 with the release of new music by unveiling new single Raised on Country.

The follow-up to 2018’s number one smash Hangin’ On, which was taken from his seventh studio album Losing Sleep, Raised on Country is the first new material from Young since 2017.

Take a listen to the song below:

The uptempo song sees Young referencing the legends of Country music he listened to while growing up. He sings:

“I was raised on Merle, raised on Willie / Got my honky-tonk attitude from Joe Diffie / Daddy did too, it’s family tradition / When someone cranks it up you can’t help but listen / My upbringing sounds like George Strait singing / ‘Cause if you know me, I was raised on country.”

The track is somewhat of a departure from the more pop leaning sound of Young’s more recent releases and it’s sure to add to his impressive tally of number one singles.

Young will be in the UK in May for a headline tour with support from Canadian musician Lindsay Ell.

Raised on Country is available to buy on digital download now.
