Powerhouse vocalist released her last studio album Resurrection in 2014 and it soared straight into the UK Top 10. Led by the superb Stupid Little Things, Resurrection was a return to form for the singer and her first UK album release since 2008ās Heavy Rotation. In 2015 Anastacia released The Ultimate Collection, a greatest hits set that became her sixth UK Top 10 album.
As she prepares to release her new album Evolution on 15th September 2017, Anastacia will release her new single Caught in the Middle tomorrow (28th July) and Iāve had an exclusive listen.
Caught in the Middle was produced by Anders Bagge (Celine Dion, Madonna) and written by him and his team at Bagpipe Studios in Stockholm. Whereas Resurrection returned to Anastaciaās āsprockā sound, the first taster from Caught in the Middle embraces electronic and pop rhythms with Anastaciaās distinctive voice at the centre. The beat-laden track, which has a slight Middle Eastern vibe, is pure slice of pop delight that will have you dancing and singing at the top of your lungs.
Lyrically the song explores the idea of being caught between your head and your heart when it comes to a relationship with Anastacia declaring that things have to change. Itās a bold empowering anthem for everyone, not just women, to embrace and itās relatable for anyone who has been stuck in a tricky relationship.
As much as I enjoyed Resurrection, to me Caught in the Middle is a real return to form for Anastacia. Itās a sledgehammer of a song that proudly sits alongside her biggest hits such as Left Outside Alone, Iām Outta Love and One Day In Your Life. Caught in the Middle is unmistakably Anastacia and itās her best song in years taking her in a slightly new direction musically and showcasing that incredible and powerful voice she possesses.
Caught in the Middle is released on Friday 28th July 2017. Anastaciaās new album Evolution will be released on 15th September 2017.
