The rumours are true! 90s girl group All Saints are making a comeback starting with the release of their new single One Strike on 26th February 2016.
Described as ‘a perceptible call to arms for anyone who experiences a single moment, perhaps a phone call or conversation, that changes your life completely’, One Strike is the first new single from the group in 9 years. The song is said to feature a ‘lovelorn yet uplifting melody’ and promises to remind you of why you loved All Saints in the first place.
Talking about the single group member Shaznay Lewis says, āWhen I write, I just think about whatās on my mind. The lyrics came from somewhere very real. Nic was going through a lot of things at that time. That was at the forefront of my mind because it was the heaviest thing going on.ā The song was written as a direct response to the younger Appleton sisterās marriage dissolving. āWe spoke for hours and hours on the phone,ā Nic says. āThe first few times I heard it in my car,ā says Nat, āI couldnāt stop crying because I could hear so clearly what it was about.ā
The single will be followed by the release of the group’s fourth album Red Flag, which is due on 8th April 2016. All Saints were last seen together in 2014 when they toured the UK and the group admit that they are surprised to be back together recording new music.
āWe didnāt force ourselves into this situation,ā says Natalie Appleton, āand it couldnāt have happened at a better time in all of our lives. I just missed being with the girls. It makes us happy. Listen, if you can work with your favourite people, then why not? I have such a good time and I spend more time laughing and having fun than I do working.ā
There’s no word yet as to when One Strike will premiere but as soon as it does we’ll have it here on Entertainment Focus.
