Green Man festival is only a few weeks away now and to all the lucky ticket holders to the now sold out event magic lies ahead.
The Green Man festival is set in the breathtaking beauty that is Brecon Beacons in Wales between the 20th and 23rd August and this year the festival is set for its best year yet.
EF knows too well how amazing this little gem of a festival is and has prepared a brief guide on things you should look forward too this year.
The bands
This is an obvious one; everybody goes to festivals hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite artists and it’s no different for anyone going to Green Man festival. The festival’s line-up usually is great but this year it’s definitely one of our personal favourites. This year the headliners are Hot Chip, Super Furry Animals and St Vincent, if those names don’t get your music ears going then fear not as other acts we are excited about include Goat, Calexico, Atomic Bomb! The Music of William Onyeabor, Villagers and Public Service Broadcasting just to name a few. 2015 looks indeed like the festival’s best year yet.
It’s not just about music
If music is not your thing then you can check out the other areas of the festival, which include comedy, film and literature. Like many festivals these days Green Man branches out to all other art forms and with great success. For instance if you fancy a bit of cheering up, comedy at the festival this year will be provided by the likes of Rob Newman, Sara Pascoe, Dan Atkins, Gareth Richards and many more. For a bit of a chill you can check out the literature tent or even the film tent which this year will feature Inherent Vice, The Duke of Burgundy and Pride. Let’s also not forget that Green Man is a family friendly festival and as such there is plenty to do with the little ones.
No achy feet
We’ve all been there as veterans; that big festival ground where every stage is miles apart and every trip becomes a journey albeit one of discovery at the end of the day those miles add up and your feet suffer the consequences. This does not need to be the case at Green Man festival. First off the campsite is close the arena so if you forget something you can easily pop back into your tent to pick up what you need. Secondly the stages are all at arms reach, which makes catching your favourite act between sets less of a challenge. The icing on the cake though is that even though the festival might be small it does feels a lot bigger and spacious so you get the best of both worlds.
The setting
As mentioned before Green Man is set at Brecon Beacons in the Black Mountains and the festival sits comfortably, surrounded by imposing mountains, which add a mystical aspect to the site. Anyone who has been will attest to the fact that this is one of the best views in the festival circuit. Whether you are sitting on the hill watching a band on the main stage or in some woods Green Man certainly has something for everyone and we love it for it.
Everyone is nice
Now this was definitely the main reason we came back from the festival with a smile firmly pressed on our faces – the festival people. From its friendly staff all the way to down to festivalgoers and the bands, Green Man festival was one peaceful haven, many conversations were had and so many memories made.
Ticket holders its time to get excited the mystical land of Green Man is about to open its doors once more and there are so many more things to look forward to but we shouldn’t spoil it all for you.
