10 things we want for the new Ministry of Sound club

Ministry of Sound have been fighting for its right to party for however long now and luckily for clubbers, Ministry has won the battle!

As the Beastie Boys once said you have to fight for your right to party! This weekend Ministry is set to reopen and the parties it has in store for 2014 are going to be bigger, bolder, better.

As we get ready to rediscover Ministry of Sound we ponder what it is we would like the new refurbished venue to be like in an ideal world…

  1. Shorter toilet queues! The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the old Ministry are the really long toilet queues! We know it’s optimistic but why not? One thing that puts a downer on our nights more than anything is the dreadful queue getting to the loo and worst of all is that split second when we think we might actually not make it…
  2. Cheaper drinks! Why are drinks always so overprized in clubs you wonder? Well we don’t know probably coz you’re trapped and have to accept your fate and that if you want a boozy beverage you have to pay the price of a small curry or a starter or even a fare to zone 3…It’s OK though coz that drink is perfect, which leads us to our next wish…
  3. Quicker service! So we’ve accepted that we have to dig deep in order to get a drink yet we are confronted with a mammoth queue, think toilet queue but less dramatic. Who hasn’t felt like they were back in the womb waiting to get served (or maybe that’s just us)? Wouldn’t it be great if there was a system whereby drinks just magically appeared and you didn’t have to leave your perfect spot on the dancefloor…maybe someone should invent a ceiling bar where barmen get your drinks down with a rope and all you have to do is catch it!
  4. A real VIP! It’s been a long time since VIP actually meant ‘very important person’ and we want the revamped lounge to be filled with the biggest names on the clubscene. We want Carl Cox, Avicii and hell maybe also one of the royals, we’re sure they like a bit of a party. We want to be immersed in VIPs!
  5. An even better sound system! This is probably silly coz we already think MoS has the best sound system out of all the London clubs but maybe as they are pioneers they could invent a sound system that makes you feel the beat flowing through your bloodstream. We want it to be intense and we want it to be big and some visuals too!
  6. More visuals! We’re experienced clubbers and one thing that we do enjoy whilst buzzing is a little entertainment. Who doesn’t remember the feeling of happiness you get from a cool laser show or even some colourful dancers? If you’ve been to Ibiza then you know what we’re talking about! MoS says it will be bolder and bold colours we expect!
  7. A greener courtyard! It’s nice to get a bit of fresh air from time to time when out clubbing and MoS does benefit of a great Courtyard but it can seem grim. We would love it to look organic with comfy sofas, beautiful surroundings maybe a midsummer night’s dream theme. It’s dreamy inside why not keep it dreamy on the outside too!
  8. A beach in the summer! This is a wish list after all and we wouldn’t mind a beach party in the summer. Shoreditch House has pool parties why couldn’t Ministry set one up for us? We know it would be more decadent!
  9.  More nobodies! This might sound odd but what we mean by that is that we’d love for Ministry to take a bit of a gamble and get some fresh talent behind the decks again. Yes of course people choose their club nights because of the names on the bill nowadays but we remember the times when a clubs were just notorious for their name and not whoever was playing. So lets take a step back and enjoy something new (maybe with disastrous consequences at times).
  10. A feeling of rebirth! It’s only fair after being all sweaty, worked up and following the womb-like bar experience we want to get out MoS and feel like even though we had a shit week at work next week will be better and faced by a fresh-faced you (the later is rather unlikely as you are more likely to look ragged but at least you’d be happy).

So there you have it our wish list for Ministry of Sound’s grand reopening but even if none of those come true we can always rely on a great line-up as seen below:
