Andrew Combs interview

Singer-songwriter Andrew Combs made a splash in 2015 with his album All These Dreams.

Next month Andrew arrives in the UK to open the main stage for the third and final day of C2C: Country to Country. The date will come in the midst of Andrew’s support slot for Eric Church on his European dates, and Eric will headline the same day at C2C.

Ahead of his C2C appearance we caught up with Andrew to talk about C2C, discuss his music, and to find out what else he has coming up in 2016.

Hi Andrew. How are you today? Where does this email Q&A find you?

Good, thanks. I’m in a van with my band. We are driving to Chicago right now.

You’re currently on the road and will soon be supporting Eric Church on his European tour. How are you feeling ahead of that tour?

I’m excited to be headed back to Europe!

Next month youā€™ll be performing on the main stage at C2C: Country to Country here in the UK. How did you become a part of the festival?

Honestly, I’m not too sure, but I’m thrilled to have been invited.

What other acts on the bill are you looking forward to seeing?

Chris Stapleton and Kacey Musgraves are always great. I wish we could see Dwight Yoakam, but I believe we are playing on different nights.

What should your UK fans expect from your live show?

A bit more amped up version of my records.

Youā€™ll be playing songs from your album All These Dreams (which I love by the way!). Do you have any new material that youā€™ll be trying?

It’s possible. We’re slowly working them into our set.

Listening to your album I can hear a wide variety of influences. Which artists would you say have inspired you the most?

Guy Clark, Mickey Newbury, Kris Kristofferson, Jackson Browne, and Roy Orbison to name a few.

Give me an insight into what youā€™re like in the studio. How do you start pulling a song together?

In the studio I try and keep everything loose, friendly, and super collaborative. I prefer recording with close buddies, so we can cut up and have fun.

Whatā€™s your favourite song on All These Dreams and whatā€™s the story behind it?

Rainy Day Song is my favorite. There’s not really a “story” behind it, other than I wrote it with my friend Brent Cobb one afternoon. I think it encapsulates the lyrical mood of the whole record.

What else do you have coming up in 2016 that your fans can look forward to?

I’ll be touring some more and working on a new record this summer. Hopefully that will be out early next year.

Andrew will perform at C2C: Country to Country on Sunday 13th March 2016. Listen to Andrew’s song All These Dreams below:
