The Texas Gentlemen to play AmericanaFest UK showcase this month

The Texas Gentlemen have been added to the showcase line-up for AmericanaFest UK.

The Lone-Star bred collective will perform on Wednesday 31st January 2018 and it will be their first UK live appearance. The Texas Gentlemen are the go-to backing band for the top Americana stars and the showcase will see them supporting their own debut album TX Jelly.

The Texas Gentlemen join a showcase line-up that includes Prinz Grizzley, Kasheena Sampson, Rev.Sekou, Joanna Seratt, The Remedy Club, Beth Bombara, Jacob Dineson, Jaime Wyatt and The Americans. They join up and coming UK artists: Curse of Lono, Steve Grozier, Colin MacLeod, Donald Byron Wheatley, James Edwyn and the Borrowed Band, Lauren Housley, Little Folk, Lunch Special, Orphan Colours, Robbie Cavanagh, Shooter Jennings, The Buffalo Skinners, The Fargo Railroad Co, The Often Herd, Benjamin William Pike and Elles Bailey.

Entry to showcases, across 4 venues in Hackney, is via a combined wristband or a delegate pass.

It has also been announced that Billy Bragg, recipient of the first Trailblazer Award at 2016ā€™s inaugural UK Americana Awards, will deliver the conferenceā€™s keynote speech on Wednesday 31st January. The conferences will feature panellists including Frank Turner, Danni Nicholls, Joanna Seratt and Danny George Wilson.

On Thursday 1st February, USA stars Mary Gauthier, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Sam Baker and the UK’s Chris Difford will feature on a panel about songwriting. American singer, songwriter and producer Joe Henry will join Bob Harris in conversation.

AmericanaFest UK will include a film screening of The Orphan Brigade – Soundtrack To A Ghost Story for the first time on Tuesday 30th January.

AmericanaFest UK takes place on 31st January and 1st February, culminating with the UK Americana Awards 2018 at the Hackney Empire, London on the final day. The film is by Neilson Hubbard, Joshua Britt and Jim DeMain, narrated by Gretchen Peters and featuring original music by The Orphan Brigade, this documentary follows a group of musicians (The Orphan Brigade) as they spend a year writing and recording an album in one of the most haunted houses in the Southern United States: The Octagon Hall, Franklin, KY. The band will perform live following the screening.
