Sam Hunt surprised fans last night by announcing that he’s got a new single, Downtown’s Dead, arriving today.
The singer-songwriter has been keeping fans in suspense over the release of new music. He’s yet to follow-up to his 3x Platinum debut album Montevallo and last year he had one of the biggest hits of the year with single Body Like a Back Road, which sold more than 5 million copies in the US.
After wiping his Instagram account clean, Hunt made a return yesterday posting a series of teasers for Downtown’s Dead. Alongside the cover, he posted some pictures of himself on a motorbike, sat in a sun-drenched street and a close-up wearing a brown jacket.
No details have been released about the single but we’re expecting another radio-friendly country-pop hybrid that will shoot straight to the top of the charts. We’re also hoping that the new single is quickly followed by details of an album release.
Hunt is nominated for 5 awards at this year’s Billboard Music Awards including Billboard Chart Achievement Award, Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist, Top Selling Song and Top Country Song. The awards take place this Sunday.
Alongside a series of festival appearances, Hunt will hit the road with Luke Bryan for the What Makes You Country Tour in the US this summer.
