Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes release I Hope That I’m Wrong video

Australian alt-country group Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes have released the video for their latest single, I Hope That I’m Wrong.

The video is based on a concept by the band’s bassist Shaun Ryan and was inspired by a classic novel. It shows a number of different people – including lead singer Lachlan Bryan and actress Kellie Tori – lip-synching the words to the introspective, folk-influenced song as they create self-portraits in various mediums.

The band say, “A lot of people have responded strongly to this song, and we wanted the film clip to show the writer’s perspective on it – which has a lot to do with the ugliness that we see inside ourselves. We bounced some thoughts around as a group before Shaun came up with the idea that became the video, inspired in part by Oscar Wilde’s novel The Picture of Dorian Gray.”

I Hope That I’m Wrong is taken from the band’s upcoming fourth album, Some Girls (Quite) Like Country Music, which is due for release in the UK and Europe on 29th June 2018. The 12-track record has received critical acclaim in the group’s native Australia and features a duet with Americana star Lindi Ortega, Don’t You Take It Too Bad.

To mark the release of the album, the band will be touring the UK this summer, including a return to Maverick Festival in Suffolk after their appearance last year. They’ll also play two dates each in Glasgow and London, as well as Bath, Nottingham, York and Scarborough.

Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes first emerged in 2009 and have since become known as one of Australia’s leading Americana acts. They won the 2014 Golden Guitar Award for Alt-Country Album of the Year in their home country for their album Black Coffee, and were finalists in the same category in 2016. As well as playing every major country and roots festival in Australia, they’ve supported artists such as Steve Earle, Joan Armatrading, Shawn Colvin and John Hiatt and have also toured in the UK, Europe and the USA.
