Jarrod Dickenson releases new single Your Heart Belongs With Me

Americana star Jarrod Dickenson has released new single Your Heart Belongs To Me, a duet with his wife Claire.

The song has an impact date of 9th March and it’s taken from his 2017 album Ready the Horses, which was released on Decca. The single arrives as Dickenson prepares a slew of support slots over the coming months for The Wandering Hearts, Grant Lee Philips and Don McLean.

Your Heart Belongs to Me is a love story inspired by his relationship with Claire in the four years before they married. The two had a long distance relationship and Jarrod says the song is about, ā€œhow true love needs no frills, no sugar coating. True love wants to get straight to the heart of the matter, and the thing that binds two people together more than anything else is time spent with one another.ā€

The two met at the Songwriters Festival in Belfast where Dickenson performed and Claire was a volunteer working at the event. Romance blossomed after they kept in touch and Dickenson took inspiration from their time apart:

ā€œIt’s not necessarily an auto-biographical song, but where we were in our own relationship at that time certainly influenced my writing. There were very few gifts exchanged in our dating and courtship, because every penny each of us had was spent in travel to see the other. All we wanted was to be together, and I think the characters in this song feel the same way.ā€
