Craig Campbell has been invited to record American Anthem for the 4th of July Fireworks spectacular by Macy’s.
The singer-songwriter will lend a breathtaking rendition of the song to the 21st annual Macyās 4th of July Fireworks. American Anthem is a country ballad saluting US veterans and it will be featured in the patriotic musical score, which is synchronized to a dazzling 25-minute pyrotechnic display over the East River in New York City.
“Itās a privilege to have been chosen by Macyās to sing this amazing song for their 4th of July celebration,ā shared Campbell. āI hope my performance of American Anthem shows our love and appreciation of America and those who risked their lives for this country.ā
American Anthem was composed by Gene Scheer and first performed by mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves for President Bill Clinton at the Smithsonianās unveiling of the restored Star-Spangled Banner flag in 1999. The song has also been reorded by Norah Jones for Ken Burnsā Emmy Award-winning World War II documentary for PBS, The War.
The song recognises the sacrifices and selflessness of the men and women that have fought on the countryās behalf.
This year’s Macyās 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular begins at 8pm ET / 7pm CT on NBC and features musical accompaniment by the West Point Band. This yearās score also includes patriotic standards and gospel, classical and jazz tunes by some of musicās brightest names including opera singer Jamie Barton and Grammy and Tony Award-winning vocalist Heather Headley.
Campbell will join Luke Bryan’s Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day Tour on 8th August and he’s currently recording on his third studio album.
