C2C 2018: Midland profile

Opening up the third and final day of C2C: Country to Country 2018 in London is breakout band Midland.

The trio – Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson – have been honing their craft for years and their hard work paid off when they enjoyed huge success with debut single Drinkin’ Problem. Certified Gold in the US and narrowly missing out on hitting number one, the song established the band as an act steeped in traditional Country but with the ability to give it a modern twist.

Signed to Big Machine Records, Midland released debut album On the Rocks in 2017 and it was one of the best Country releases of the year. With plenty of hooks, a laid back melodies and tight musicianship, On the Rocks was a revelation and proved Midland are no one trick pony.

The band’s current single, Make a Little, is shooting up the charts and it’s one of the standout tracks on the album.

C2C will mark the band’s first time performing in the UK and it’s fair to say that anticipation is very high. We spoke with Mark from the band last year and he could barely contain his excitement about playing on this side of the pond.

Keep those fingers crossed that the guys will find time for a headline show post-C2C.

2018 will also see Midland hit the road with Kacey Musgraves and Little Big Town on The Breakers Tour, which kicks off in early February.
