Ashley Campbell returned to C2C: Country to Country to perform on the Spotlight Stage at The O2 Arena in London.
Before her performance Campbell sat down with media to talk about her life, career and her debut album The Lonely One. She opened up about her aims with the album saying:
‘I really wanted this album to be kind of a woodshed process. It was really cool to work with my brother (Cal) because he brought an edge to it.’
Taking us back to how she started in music, Campbell revealed, ‘I started playing guitar when I was 15 and took lessons. The first song I learned to play was Blackbird because I love The Beatles.’
Campbell is best-known now as a banjo player and she fell into it by accident after being asked to play it. ‘I fell in love with it. I started playing bluegrass and I was doing improv at the time,’ Campbell explained. ‘I used that as a gateway into bluegrass.’
Teasing what she would be doing tonight at C2C, Campbell revealed that she’ll be doing a medley of her father Glen Campbell’s songs as a tribute to her late father.
