Madam Secretary 3×14 Labor of Love preview

On the latest episode of Madam Secretary, Elizabeth (Téa Leoni) worked hard on a peace deal between Iran and Israel.

At the start of the episode Henry (Tim Daly) woke Elizabeth to show her that she made the cover of a magazine. Inside they did a large article about her peace efforts and that she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was upset that they had photoshopped her photo on the cover.

Henry had to go to the FBI to help track down the missing bomb that they thought could be in terrorist hands. Henry’s task was to brief a man named Ian Conroy to try and get him inside the organisation. Henry later met with Ian but found that he wasn’t too interested in listening to him.

Later Ian confronted Henry in a car park with a gun. He had Henry a little worried but was just trying to prove that he was the right man for the job.

At the office Elizabeth was briefed on the seating arrangements for the peace treaty signing. Daisy (Patina Miller) apologised to her about the magazine cover. Elizabeth discovered that people were now referring to her as Madam Sexy-tary which annoyed her.

The Israeli’s arrived early for the signing but Iran was not happy with the wording. Things took a turn for the worse when a new bombing in Israel killed a Rabbi who was helping Elizabeth. She pushed both sides again to get the treaty agreed but failed.

The Rabbi was working on arranging a football match between children from Iran and Israel to compliment the peace treaty. With the Rabbi dead the match was called off due to security concerns.

Elizabeth decided to make it her mission to ensure the match went ahead. The only option would be to host the match in the US. This brought many headaches including getting each side to agree, flying the kids to the US, finding a venue and approving the budget.

It was a hard task but with lots of effort from her team and plenty of favours they managed to pull it off. The match went ahead and both sides enjoyed it very much. Behind the scenes, Jay (Sebastian Arcelus) brokered the peace deal and got things moving again.

Elsewhere in the episode, Jay’s wife broke down during a meal out. She was very unhappy with their marriage as Jay’s job kept him away from his family. She requested they take a break which seemed to take him completely by surprise and really upset him. Later he asked Matt (Geoffrey Arend) if he could crash at his for a while.

At the end of the episode, Elizabeth had a talk with her daughter Alison (Kathrine Herzer). She explained how she wanted people to talk about the things she had achieved, instead of her appearance.

The next episode is Labor of Love. Elizabeth works to reunite a pair of star-crossed lovers whose union is at the heart of a Colombian peace deal after years of civil war.
