On the latest episode of MacGyver, Mac (Lucas Till) and the team had to prevent a Russian extremist restarting the Cold War.
At the start of the episode a Phoenix Foundation agent discovered an old Soviet bomb. With Mac’s help she was able to open up the container that housed the bomb but was killed before she could escape.
Thronton (Sandrine Holt) set to work on tracking the bomb and extremists down. Riley (Tristin Mays) analysed the footage they had of the bomb and determined that it had its own operating system.
The team identified the Russians who created the bomb as Alexander Orlov (Elya Baskin) ad Victor Levkin (Olek Krupa). After tracking them down, which proved tricker than expected, they turned out to be a bit like older versions of Mac and Jack (George Eads).
They all travelled to Russia in order to collect a special old computer that could communicate with the bomb. However Orlov was captured by the extremists.
During an attempt to rescue Orlov, Levkin was shot and killed. The keyboard on the old computer was also damaged. Mac was able to cobble together some wires and metal objects to replace the broken keys.
There wasn’t enough time to deactivate the bomb but Mac had another idea. They were able to use the Y2K bug to change the date in order to give them more time and then the bomb was defused.
At the end of the episode, Thornton went to tell the family of the dead agent about her death. Mac and Jack also talked about the search for Nikki.
The next episode is Toothpick, the official synopsis for the episode reads:
Using only an armrest, a curtain rod and a toothpick, MacGyver must fix a sabotaged train in order to protect a whistleblower who has proof that her boss is selling weapons to U.S. enemies.
