The latest episode of Legion had a couple of huge reveals about David Haller (Dan Stevens).
At the start of the episode, in the astral plane, Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement) spoke to Cary (Bill Irwin). During their conversation Oliver struggled to remember his wife Melanie (Jean Smart). He also explained that David’s parasite was Farouk who is also known as the Shadow King. Cary knew of this powerful mutant and realised that it’s name was tied to the memories of David’s childhood dog King.
Cary told Oliver about the headband device he had created back in the physical world. He hoped that it would be able to imprison the parasite in David’s mind. Oliver then hatched a plan to rescue the others to save David and Syd (Rachel Keller) back in the real world.
Cary went to Syd, who was still in the coma that Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) put her in, and woke her up. He sent her to help rescue the others while he went back to help Oliver and Melanie get the device to David. Before he left he gave her some special glasses created by Oliver. They were able to filter out the imaginary allowing the wearers to see what was real.
The world around Syd was a nightmare that looked like something out of The Walking Dead. However the glasses allowed her to see that most of it wasn’t real. She found her way to Kerry (Amer Midthunder) who was terrified by the visions surrounding her until she place a pair of the glasses on her face.
Lenny soon came after them to attack. She started with The Eye (Mackenzie Gray) by folding his body up and crushing him to death which killed him back in the real world as well. She next started on Syd and Kerry but had to leave them to tend to what was happening in the real world.
The others managed to return to their bodies and get the device to David. This brought him back as well and before the bullets hit Syd he was able to turn her around. He used his powers to absorb the bullets and discard them on the floor.
Elsewhere in the episode, while David was trapped in his mind, he met with his rational mind to figure out what was going on. It was revealed that he was adopted. His father had given him up to try and protect him from Farouk. It didn’t work and Farouk found David and infected his mind when he was a baby. There was also a snippet of what looked like a wheelchair wheel with an X on the side. This all but confirmed that David’s father is Professor X.
After the ordeal everyone returned to Summerland. Cary found that Kerry was really mad at him for leaving her and she refused to merge back with him. Oliver was also there but didn’t seem to remember Melanie.
At the end of the episode, they found themselves surrounded by Division 3 soldiers. Meanwhile, in David’s mind, Farouk began to break free.
