On the latest episode of Legion, David Haller (Dan Stevens) started to feel more comfortable with his powers.
David revealed to Syd (Rachel Keller) that he had found a way for them to be together. Using his mind powers he was able to create an imaginary white room where they could touch without invoking her body swap powers. They wasted no time in stripping off and having sex.
David later revealed to Melanie Bird (Jean Smart) that he had met her husband Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement) while in the astral plane. It lead her to wondering if David will be able to save Oliver and bring him back to the real world.
Not only more comfortable with his powers, David actually looked incredibly cocky. He was desperate to go rescue his sister Amy (Katie Aselton) from Division 3 against the advice of Melanie.
As Melanie discussed the possibility with some of the other mutants, they learned that David had gone off to rescue her on his own. The decided to go after him and discovered a bloodbath when they got there.
David had killed absolutely everyone who had crossed his path, although The Eye (Mackenzie Gray) survived. There was blood and body parts everywhere. Some of the guards were even embedded into the floors and walls. Security cam footage showed David looking like he was having a blast as he murdered his way through the facility.
Cary (Bill Irwin) helped Kerry (Amber Midthunder) tend to her wounds before absorbing her which caused him to take on her bruises. He found some infrared security footage which showed David’s fat monster in his place. Cary proposed that it was another mutant living inside David.
What doesn’t seem clear just yet is whether David is actually in control of himself or if the mutant inside of him is. Lenny Busker (Aubrey Plaza) cropped up plenty in this episode and it seems that she plays the parts of the Angriest Boy in the World, Benny and David’s dog.
Cary built an electronic device that he hoped would allow them to isolate David from the other mutant. He brought it to the rest of the team as they searched for David. When they found him, one of the team who appeared to be The Eye, tried to shoot him. Syd dived in and caused them to be transported back to the white room.
One there the fat monster appeared and started to chase her around. David appeared to be paralyzed in fear and unable to help her. As it moved in to attack her on the bed she suddenly awoke to find herself sat in one of the group therapy sessions in Clockworks.
Confused, she looked around and noticed that the other people in the session included David, Melanie, Cary, Wallace, Kerry and The Eye. Lenny was also present as the psychologist. Is everything that happened just in her mind? We’ll have to wait for the next episode for more answers.
