Skara: The Blade Remains Kickstarter almost there

There’s just under 4 days left to pledge your support for Skara: The Blade Remains on Kickstarter. At the time of writing the project needed an additional $3,900 to meet their initial funding goal of $35,000.

8-Bit Studios, the team behind the project, is based in San Francisco. They are a talented bunch with experience gained at other companies such as Ubisoft, Eurocom, Tequila Works and Codemasters.

Skara: The Blade Remains is an ambitious title that aims to throw together elements of fighting, multiplayer, action and RPG games to create a whole new genre. They are calling this new genre MOV (Multiplayer Online Versus game).

The final game is expected to provide arenas for up to 16 players to battle it out. There will also be a variety of game modes including Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, Kill the King, Dominion and Capture the Flag.

The game has been developed with Unreal 4 and was previously voted into Steam Greenlight in just 8 days. The project is expected to hit Steam Early Access later this month.

We’ve only spent a little time with an early alpha build of the game but can confirm that it certainly looks lovely so far. We fully expect the final release to improve upon this massively.

The final game is currently due in late 2014 and is expected to be a free-to-play release. An initial PC release is scheduled for Steam with Xbox One following later.
