Laser League gets first online field test this weekend

Independent publisher 505 Games and Roll7 (OlliOlli, Not a Hero), are inviting select players in Europe and North America to participate in the first test of the preliminary closed beta program for their new game Laser League. Beginning Friday, October 27th and running through Sunday, October 29th, players will have the chance to fry opponents with brightly neon lasers in this online arcade multiplayer competition.

In Laser League, the exhilarating contact sport of 2150, players battle against the opposition for control of nodes that bathe the arena in deadly light while evading rival colored laser walls and attempting to fry opponents with speed, strength and strategy. Special offensive and defensive abilities, as well as game-changing power-ups on the arena floor, provide an edge at the crucial moment. Like all great sports, it is accessible and immediately understandable, but rewards dedication with deceptively complex strategic possibilities.

The Laser League field test will allow players to interact in competitive 3v3 matches on a small selection of future available maps. The invite-only field test is meant to give players a sneak peek at some of the content in development for the upcoming game, while 505 Games and Roll7 analyze and work on servers, matches and player performance with the goal of obtaining valuable feedback and insight from gameplay to be implemented before Laser League’s release on Steam Early Access. Players participating in this exclusive online field test may experience latency and server complications and may also be exposed to content and features that may be modified or removed from the final version of the game.

Field test servers will open for the field test at 15:00 BST on Friday 27th and close at 03:00 on Sunday 29th. A stress test will also take place on Friday 27th at 21:00 BST.

Players can sign up now at the Laser League website for the chance to be part of the Laser League field test. To enter the game, invited players can redeem their keys immediately via their Steam account and install Laser League. Players will notice the games’ addition to their library. Beginning immediately, the game will update and players will be able to connect the game, but servers will not be live until Friday, October 27th. For the purposes of this field test, it is recommended that players use an Xbox controller for the best Laser League experience possible.
