Frostpunk is coming to consoles this October

Frostpunk still remains in my list of top games from last year. It’s a strategic city builder where there are no easy decisions to make. For example, you could choose to bury your dead people (and you’ll have lots of them) or you could use their bodies as fertiliser to help grow crops to keep others alive. Sounds like a lot of fun huh?

Frostpunk is set in a world where the planet has been besieged by an ice age of globe encompassing proportions. Groups of people set out on a journey to discover generators as these are the only sources of heat available. Around these generators spring up that vestige of civilisation. Your job is to keep as many people alive as possible in order to keep the colony going. Resources are scarce and people even more so. Many will die along your journey forcing you to make some horrible decisions along the way.

On 11th October, Xbox One and PS4 owners will also have the pleasure of entering this bleak world. Rather than just being a direct port, Frostpunk has been enhanced in order to make the console experience a good one.

Frostpunk lead designer Jakub Stokalski: “We redesigned pretty much every game element to work intuitively with a gamepad. Among the new, console-specific UI changes we have an express menu for quick access to most common building actions, easy to use choice-wheels, top-down view for precise building placement, upscaled icons, and much more. We truly believe it will become a new benchmark for the genre on Xbox One and PlayStation 4,”
