Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassin's Creed IV

Assassin’s Creed has made the jump to next-gen with the fabulous Black Flag. It was a lovely looking game on Xbox 360 and PS3 but looks even better on Xbox One and PS4. Scenes look more crisp and are far more detailed with enhanced water and environmental effects. Plenty of neat little touches enhance the experience such as the way foliage now moves as you crawl through it. A perfect gift for fans of the series.

Battlefield 4

EA and DICE have done far more than just port Battlefield 4 to next-gen. Graphically it looks absolutely stunning with much crisper and more detailed visuals. Battlefield games are all about the multiplayer and next-gen doesn’t disappoint with an upgraded player count from 24 to 64. The developers are working hard to fix some issues with the multiplayer but hopefully these will be sorted in time for Christmas. There’s also the brilliant new commander mode that takes advantage of a tablet device as a second screen.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Another exclusive and one for the car and racing fans is Forza Motorsport 5. This is arguably the best looking and most impressive launch title on Xbox One. There’s over 200 cars to choose from and commentary again provided by the Top Gear team. The game shows off the impulse triggers on the Xbox One controller allowing you to get instant feedback on how hard you are pushing the car. Another neat feature is the new cloud based Drivatar technology that allows an AI controlled version of yourself to compete while you are offline.
