Christmas Gift Guide: PlayStation 4 Games

It’s an expensive time for gamers who have taken the jump into the new generation of consoles.

If you’re buying for a PlayStation 4 gamer this year then there’s no better present than a new game for their shiny new console.

Below you’ll find our top picks for PlayStation 4 gamers. Stay tuned to EF for games gift guides for other consoles.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassin’s Creed has made the jump to next-gen with the fabulous Black Flag. It was a lovely looking game on last-gen consoles but looks stunning on PS4 in 1080p. Scenes look more crisp and are far more detailed with enhanced water and environmental effects. Plenty of neat little touches enhance the experience such as the way foliage now moves as you crawl through it. A perfect gift for fans of the series.

Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4 PS4

EA and DICE have done far more than just port Battlefield 4 to next-gen. Graphically it looks absolutely stunning with much more detailed visuals. Battlefield games are all about the online multiplayer experience and next-gen doesn’t disappoint with an upgraded player count from 24 to 64. The developers are working hard to fix some gameplay and connectivity issues but hopefully these will be sorted in time for Christmas.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Call of Duty and shooter fans will be delighted to find a copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts under the tree this year. The PS4 version of the game runs in the highest resolution of all the consoles and the graphics are far more detailed than last-gen.

FIFA 14

There’s only one football game on PS4 fans xmas lists and that’s FIFA 14 from EA Sports. This version looks and plays better than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions thanks to plenty of gameplay tweaks, much upgraded visuals and far more complex animation.

Killzone Shadow Fall

The latest instalment in the Killzone franchise from Guerrilla Games is one of the most impressive PS4 launch titles. Set 30 years after the events of Killzone 3 take part in the conflict between the Helghast and Vektars. A cracking pressie for shooter fans.

Knack

knack

Knack is one of the most kid-friendly games in the PS4 launch line-up. This cartoony third-person adventure tells the tale of a 3ft tall robot who can magnetise his body to change shape and form. A brilliant game for all the family.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

We’ve enjoyed all the LEGO games and always wonder what they will come up with next. The latest is based around the Marvel Universe and features all your favourite superheroes and villains such as Iron Man, Spider-man, Captain America, Thor, Loki, Deadpool, Wolverine and Hulk. The drop-in co-op play makes this a perfect title for parents to play with kids.

Need For Speed Rivals

We’re not big fans of the sport ourselves but those that are will be desperate to get their hands on a copy of Madden NFL 25 this Christmas. Promising the most realistic simulation yet of American Football the game looks incredible in motion.
