Normally before Christmas we do gift guide for both PS4 and Xbox One titles but this year we’ve decided to do things a little differently. As there are so many common games across the two systems this is a single guide dedicated to games that are available on both.
Now more than ever you’ll find that the majority of the big games come to each of the consoles. Often there is also little to no difference between the two. Below you’ll find a rather long list of our favourite multiplatform titles to buy for either console.

Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection
Age Rating: 18+
Make history as the legendary Master Assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection includes the single-player campaigns and DLC from Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations with enhanced graphics for PS4 and Xbox One.

Battlefield 1
Age Rating: 18+
This year Battlefield went back in time to the First World War for the first time. There’s a brilliant campaign allowing you to see the horrors of the war from different viewpoints. The fantastic multiplayer returns with battles for up to 64 players. It’s one of our favourite Battlefield games, read our Battlefield 1 review to see what we thought.
Batman: The Telltale Series
Age Rating: 18+
The retail version features all five episodes of the game. Players take the roles of Bruce Wayne and Batman and get to see the impact their decisions make on the story.

Batman: Return to Arkham
Age Rating: 16+
Return to Arkham features Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Both titles have been given updated visuals and have been optimised for PS4 and Xbox One. They also contain all previous DLC making this a perfect gift for any Batman fan this Christmas.
BioShock: The Collection
Age Rating: 18+
This collection features all three previous BioShock games remastered for the latest consoles plus all the DLC. These are three of the best games around making this an essential collection. Read our BioShock Infinite review to see what we thought of the game.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Age Rating: 18+
Infinite Warfare features the best single player campaign for a number of years. It’s genuinely entertaining and also features a variety of optional missions. There are plenty of characters but the star of the game is your robot friend Ethan. The game also features improved online multiplayer and a brand new zombies experience. Some editions also include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
Dark Souls III
Age Rating: 16+
FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki are back with the final instalment of the Dark Souls series. Renowned for its incredibly challenging, yet rewarding, gameplay and brutal boss battles. This is one game that will keep most players busy well into the new year.

Destiny: The Collection
Age Rating: 16+
If you haven’t yet joined the incredible online world of Bungie’s Destiny then this is the place to start. Destiny: The Collection includes the original game plus The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King and the latest expansion Rise of Iron. We’ve been playing for over 2 years now so there’s plenty to keep new players busy until Destiny 2 arrives.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Age Rating: 18+
The sequel to Human Revolution is a must for fans of Deus Ex. Adam Jenson returns to a very different world since the Aug Incident. A great choice for Sci-Fi fans.

Dishonored 2
Age Rating: 18+
Supernatural assassin Corvo Attano returns and this time you can also play as Empress Emily Kaldwin. Dishonored 2 allows you to play your way and the story adapts accordingly. Will you choose brutal combat, stealth or a mix of both?
The Division
Age Rating: 18+
The Division is a classified unit of tactical agents. Their job is to save society after a devastating pandemic sweeps through New York. A great online shooter from Ubisoft.

DOOM
Age Rating: 18+
ID Software are back with a reboot of the DOOM series. The game looks better than ever and is also even more brutal. A great game for experience shooter fans who aren’t put off by heaps of gore.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
Age Rating: 18+
One of the best games of the last generation has been remastered with much improved graphics and new effects. It also features all the DLC and also has Mod support allowing you to change the game. Easily hundreds of hours of gameplay here.

Far Cry Primal
Age Rating: 18+
Far Cry Primal moves the franchise back to the Stone Age. Taking the role of a hunter players must learn to survive against the fierce predators and enemy tribes.
Fallout 4
Age Rating: 18+
Fallout 4 is set in a post-apocalyptic Boston in the year 2287, 210 years after a nuclear war. Once the player exits an underground bunker known as a Vault it’s pretty much up to them what they do next. There’s hundreds of hours of gameplay in Fallout 4 so it will keep players busy well into the New Year.

FIFA 17
Age Rating: 3+
Top of the xmas wishlist of many a football fan will be FIFA 17 from EA Sports. Each year the game gets better and this year players have a full story mode to play. It puts players in the boots of Alex Hunter, a rising star, as his career progresses. The action on the pitch has also been improved making this one of the best football games ever.
Grand Theft Auto V
Age Rating: 18+
We’ve been playing GTA V since it was released on the Xbox 360 over 3 years ago. It’s been out on the PS4/Xbox One now for over 2 years and the game is better than ever. Featuring a campaign that will last most players over 30 hours the game doesn’t end there. Whether you prefer to play offline or jump online for multiplayer shenanigans with your mates there’s endless entertainment to be had. There’s even a video creator built into the game allowing you to make your own movies.

Mafia III
Age Rating: 18+
Set in a re-imagined New Orleans in 1968 players step into the shoes of Lincoln Clay. He’s recently returned from Vietnam and must now work on rebuilding his life. That means helping his family out and taking on the criminal underworld.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience
Age Rating: 18+
An open world stealth combat game from Hideo Kojima. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has too many features to list and has hundreds of hours of gameplay. This edition also includes all the DLC, squad-based competitive multiplayer Metal Gear Online and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Perfect for players who didn’t buy it last year.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
Age Rating: 16+
A reboot of 2008’s Mirror’s Edge, Catalyst puts players in the free-running shoes of Faith Conners as it tells the story of her origin. A great choice for fans of the first game and parkour enthusiasts.
Overwatch
Age Rating: 12+
The world needs heroes and that’s where Overwatch comes in. It’s an internation task force of heroes who have come together to rid the world of war and restore peace. Overwatch is the best and most-unique online multiplayer shooter this year. Read our Overwatch review to see what we thought of the game.

Rise of the Tomb Raider
Age Rating: 18+
Released for the Xbox One last year and finally now also on PS4 as a special 20th anniversary edition. The game follows on from the Tomb Raider series reboot and is Lara’s most impressive adventure yet. Tomb Raider fans will be delighted to find this under the tree on xmas morning.
Titanfall 2
Age Rating: 16+
We loved the first game which was exclusive to Xbox One and the sequel has gone multiplatform. Titanfall 2 features the best campaign of the year and one of our favourites of all time. Players must learn to master the freedom of movement of the pilots while co-operating and controlling their Titans. The online multiplayer is also one of the best experiences of the year and offers something genuinely new. Titanfall 2 is essential. Read our Titanfall 2 review to see what we thought of the game.

Watch_Dogs 2
Age Rating: 18+
Players take the role of a young hacker called Marcus Holloway who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Marcus joins hacker group Dedsec and works to take down ctOS 2.0 and give the freedom back to the people. The game features a fantastic open world where everything can be hacked.
The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition
Age Rating: 18+
Players play as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who sets off on an epic journey. The Witcher features the most detailed world we’ve ever come across and will keep players busy for well over 100 hours. A great gift for RPG fans.
