Game of Thrones 7×01 Dragonstone preview

It’s been a long wait since Game of Thrones season six ended back in June 2016. Like many fans we’ve been having serious withdrawal symptoms so we’re glad there’s less than a week to go until the season seven premiere.

It’s impossible to discuss season seven without major spoilers for season six so if you aren’t up to date with the show then we suggest you stop reading now.

The season six finale of Game of Thrones saw Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) put an end to a large number of her enemies including Margaery (Natalie Dormer) and the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). She used the green Wildfire to destroy the Sept of Baelor to avoid her trial and kill everyone in it. Her actions resulted in the suicide of her son King Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman) and she ended up sat on the Iron Throne.

Benjen (Joseph Mawle) left Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) at the Wall. Bran also learnt the truth about Jon Snow’s parents.

At Winterfell, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) banished Melisandre (Carice von Houten) after Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) found out the truth about the death of Shireen Baratheon. Sansa (Sophie Turner) rejected the advances of Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen).

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) put an end to Walder Frey (David Bradley). Sam (John-Bradley West) arrived at the Citadel with Gilly (Hannah Murray).

Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) made a deal with the Sand Snakes and the Tyrells to help Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). She finally set off to cross the Narrow Sea with her dragons and armies.
