Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World is in cinemas on 5th January and Sony have released a brand new trailer, behind the scenes featurette and a clip from the movie.
All the Money in the World is directed by Ridley Scott (Alien: Covenant) and stars Michelle Williams, Christopher Plummer, Mark Wahlberg, Romain Duris, Charlie Plummer and Timothy Hutton.
All the Money in the World follows the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail (Michelle Williams – Manchester by the Sea) to convince his billionaire grandfather (Christopher Plummer- The Exception) to pay the ransom.
When Getty Sr. refuses, Gail attempts to sway him as her son’s captors become increasingly volatile and brutal. With her son’s life in the balance, Gail and Getty’s advisor (Mark Wahlberg – Patriots Day) become unlikely allies in the race against time that ultimately reveals the true and lasting value of love over money.
The film is inspired by true events. Some scenes, characters and dialogue have been fictionalized for dramatic purposes.
All the Money in the World has gained unwanted attention after Kevin Spacey (Baby Driver) was dropped from the film after damning allegations surfaced about his behaviour.
Christopher Plummer was brought in at short notice after director Ridley Scott refused to let his film be tainted by Spacey’s presence. So he replaced him in a move that surprised the film community. It looks to have been a masterstroke too, as early reports suggest Christopher Plummer could be in-line for a very successful awards season run next year, after delivering a scene-stealing performance full of gravitas.
All the Money in the World is sure to benefit from removing itself from the bad stories surrounding Spacey’s behaviour.
