Richard Curtis & Danny Boyle unite for new Beatles inspired rom-com Yesterday

British film royalty Richard Curtis and Danny Boyle unite for a new feel-good rom-com titled Yesterday, which hits cinemas this summer. The movie has just released a brand new trailer and some poster art, and it all looks fantastic!

The plot revolves around a freak global occurrence that makes everyone on the planet forget who The Beatles are… everyone except for one man who uses the situation to become a musical sensation!

Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, T2, Steve Jobs) joins celebrated screenwriter Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill, Blackadder, Comic Relief) for a new comedy from Working Title, who are responsible for some of the greatest British films of all time.

Yesterday is released in cinemas nationwide on 28th June 2019.

The film stars Himesh Patel who will be a familiar face to EastEnders fans, and who also co-starred in Jo Brand’s comedy/drama Damned. He leads the film as Jack Malik, who uses a twist of fate to convince everyone that he is the greatest songwriter of all time.

Yesterday (the title of which is, obviously, taken from the classic Beatles song) co-stars Lily James (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Baby Driver), and Kate McKinnon (TV’s Saturday Night Live, Ghostbusters, The Spy Who Dumped Me).

That’s not all… Blade Runner 2049’s Ana de Armas, Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Joel Fry (Trollied, Plebs), Sophia Di Martino (Flowers), Ellise Chappell (Poldark), Camille Chen (Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.), Maryana Spivak (Le Bureau des Légendes), James Corden (Smallfoot) and music legend Ed Sheeran also feature in the comedy.

Yesterday is produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Les Misérables, Darkest Hour, Bridget Jones’s series) alongside Matt Wilkinson (Kaleidoscope) and Bernie Bellew (Steve Jobs). Curtis and Boyle will also produce, while Nick Angel and Lee Brazier serve as executive producers.

The return of the great British Rom-Com is back with a bang, and with this type of talent onboard, it’s safe to say that we are all very excited about Yesterday.
